Biography
Chanudi Wickramasinha is an artist/designer based in Melbourne, Australia. She is also a qualified mental health professional and an ANZATA (Australian and New Zealand Arts Therapy Association) registered art psychotherapist who believes in the use of art and creativity in life enrichment and positive change of individuals & communities.
Having shown creative talents as a multifaceted, passionate young artist from her childhood, Chanudi gradually developed an interest to embark a career as a creative personality in mental health. She is an academically trained artist and a designer specialized in fashion and textiles. As a firm believer of reformative, rehabilitative and therapeutic values of art, Chanudi is passionately involved in providing art psychotherapy and psychosocial support to a diverse clientele from various backgrounds.
Chanudi works as a mental health practitioner, lecturer and a humanitarian worker. As a mental health professional her expertise are in counselling and art therapy, psychosocial interventions, forensic rehabilitation, people who misuse substances, children with special needs, neglected and abused children, people living with HIV and survivors of violence. She has conducted workshops in experiential art and art therapy at various clinical, correctional, educational and rehabilitation settings.
Social activism being a necessary part of her life Chanudi's lifelong passion has always been into working with minorities and marginalized populations, thereby helping to elevate their quality of life in whichever the small way that she could. Chanudi is keen in photography and during her leisure time she writes poetry and works on her own collection of 'poemimages'.
